Royal Naval Association, Bletchley & District Branch

The Branch was formed on 16th October 1956 at the Bull Hotel in Fenny Stratford.  On the site of the present building a wooden hut measuring 72ft x 20ft was erected by members, opening as our Club & HQ in November 1968.

Owing to the temporary nature of the club building the lease could not be renewed and a more permanent building was erected on the site.  We can now boast full ownership of both the building and the site.

The Branch offers members full club facilities, including live music, a games room (darts, pool etc) and liquid refreshments at club prices.

We are a charitable Association and raise monies for local charities with Willen Hospice and local Sea Cadet units being foremost.

We are currently taking an active part on the committee of West Bletchley Carnival and have placed our club at their disposal for the games night.

If you are ex-Royal Navy, ex-Royal Marine, ex-WRENS or ex-QARNNS, why not come and join the Branch.  Meet old Ships, Swing the Lamp and enjoy yourselves.

Scot Bowls Club

(A section of Scot Sports & Social Club)

Founded originally as London Brick Bletchley Bowls Club in 1936.  We were re-named as Scot Bowls Club in 1983 when the premises became the social club of Scot Meat Products, a large employer in Bletchley at the time.  This company is no longer with us but the name of the social club remains.  We are situated passed the railway bridge, at the end of Selbourne Avenue, which is off the Newton Road.  To become a member of the bowls club you must also be a member of the main social club, to partake in the facilities that we have to offer.  The bowls club is run separately from the main club with our own committee, which meets at 2 monthly intervals, from January to our A.G.M. in November.

The season runs from April to September and we have practice or “roll ups” in the afternoons.  We play friendly matches on Saturdays and Sundays, home and away, against all the local teams in Milton Keynes and some further a field.  We also compete in the County Plate competition and the Bletchley & District Bowls League.  These games are played in the week, in the evenings.  As well as all this we run our own internal competitions.  We are affiliated to Bowls England, the national body, Bucks County Bowls members, whether they have bowled before or not, and we have an Open Day coming up on the 10th May 2008 for anyone to come along and have a go.  At this moment in time we do not have our own web-site but we are working on it and hope to have it up and running this year.  We are taking memberships now and if anyone would like more information they can contact me, Ian Welch, Secretary, on 01908 370655, or e-mail us at scotbowls@googlemail.com.
