About West Bletchley Council
West Bletchley Council was originally formed as a parish council in June 2001. The area it serves is bounded by Standing Way to the West, the A5 to the North and the railway line to the East. A map of the area is shown below.
The Council is made up of 10 divisions, or Wards, each of which is represented by between two and four Councillors. The exact number of Councillors for each Ward is determined by the number of people who live in that Ward. The Councillors are all members of the local community, and all of them live either in, or within 3 miles of, West Bletchley Parish.
As well as representing residents and businesses within their Ward, each Councillor is also a member of at least one Committee. There are currently five Committees, each with responsibility for a different aspect of West Bletchley Council's duties. The Committees are:
Each of these Committees meets between 8 and 12 times each year to discuss areas within their remit and to decide on the policies that will be adopted by the Council, and how the Council's budget will be spent in line with these policies.
All of the Councillors attend Full Council meetings which are held once a month. |
