Improvements to the Granby Roundabout
Improvement work to the Granby roundabout on Bletcham Way will commence on 13th September and is expected to be completed by December. The work will involve re-aligning the approach roads to the roundabout as well as the addition of a fourth arm. It is expected that the improvements will provide a safer, additional means of access and take traffic away from the B&Q junction.
A Milton Keynes Council highways spokesman said "Disruption will be kept to a minimum as the existing road network will be kept open whilst the majority of the works take place, however there may be some delays at peak periods when occasional lane closures are in operation for the safety of the workforce and the travelling public. When the final surfacing takes place there will be some overnight closures but these will be kept to a minimum, with particular attention paid to local events and businesses. We apologise for any inconvenience that the works may cause."
Cllr Vanessa McPake, Cabinet Member for Transport said "These works are much needed as a first step to improving the flow of traffic around the northern gateway into Bletchley. The inclusion of the fourth arm and the improved access this brings has been supported locally by businesses in the Denbigh area and by Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council"
Large Scale Housing proposal at Salden Chase
Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) has now received a planning application for 5311 houses to be built at Salden Chase, an area immediately to the west of Bletchley. The development will have severe impact on West Bletchley and the surrounding villages.
West Bletchley Council are supporting local residents in their efforts to stop the proposed development, having already formally objected to AVDC's Core Strategy which identified the apparent need for the development.
Milton Keynes Council have resolved to object to the Salden Chase Development.
The independent Inspector's report on AVDC core strategy is expected shortly.
Updated position 19/08/2010
The Planning application has been "called in" by the Highways Agency and won't now be considered by AVDC until October at the earliest.
The Inspector has delayed his report on Aylesbury Vale's Core Strategy until at least January 2011 to allow AVDC to revise its policies in the light of changed Government guidelines.
AVDC meets on Wednesday 8th September to start the process of revising its Core Strategy.
RESIDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND THE MEETING OF AVDC ON THE 8TH SEPTEMBER. PLEASE CALL WEST BLETCHLEY COUNCIL OFFICE TO FIND OUT MORE DETAILS.

The impact upon the morning peak of traffic relating to school runs.
-
The impact on Bletchley of the wider growth of Milton Keynes and highlight the issues that this brings.
-
The transport impact of the proposed Soth West Strategic Development Area (SDA) at Salden Chase (the SDA lies within Aylesbury Vale District and this element will therefore require cross-boundary working with both AVDC and Buckinghamshire County Council)
-
The cumulative impact of previous developments in the surrounding area which have been assessed individually but not considered in combination
-
The implications of a successful Football World Cup bid for 2018
-
The proposed redevelopment of the Lakes Estate and other developments in the area
-
Impact of recent and proposed future developments on traffic safety and parking within the local area
-
The study will incorporate issues presently being considered (or planned) by MKC of sustainable transport, community safety, landscape or built heritage, wildlife species and habitats, pollution (air, water, land, noise)
The study will consider the Council's emerging LTP3, its Core Strategy, Sustainable Community Strategy and the Neighbourhood Regeneration Programme.
TSBA will provide an opportunity for the residents and businesses in Bletchley to participate in transport decisions directly affecting them. Consultation times and processes are announced on the MKC website www.milton-keynes.gov.uk
